I'm new to painting. I noticed a lot of guys use sharpie markers and paint sticks for detail work. I don't like the looks of it. So my question is if I were to do the base and primary color in powder then airbrush the fine lines before putting the clear on, would the two different paints work on top of one another?

I have not tried this but plan to. I think it will work fine. Just try not to touch it before clearing it.
It works but definitely needs top coat or acrylic will peel. You will be better off using powder water ( https://www.powderbuythepound.com/LIQUID_2_POWDER_-1_PINT/ )
