I got a request to make up a fly with Red in the front and White in the rear crappie style. So here is the prototype. It is a #6 3X hook and tied on with White thread, The rear uses basic White craft type fur with some Root Beer flash tied in on each side for extra attention. Maroon cactus chenille for the body and Sliver barbel eyes painted Yellow. Simple but should get the job done. It is not officially for sale yet but I think I will add it to my site this weekend.

That's a dandy looking fly. I'm going to have to tie some up. I'm going to try wrapping lead around the hook shank under the chenille and using chain bead eyes instead. I hit my fly rod too many times with my flies and those dumbell eyes would do a number on my fish stick. Great looking fly.

Nice looking tie have you tried it in water yet ? Might find you have to move the hour glass weight a bit more to the rear. That is if you want a horizontal presentation. When tying these types of jigs/flies I usually suspend in bucket of water to note its angle of attack.

I think it will catch fish regardless of how it hangs. Minnows will often assume an almost 45 degree angle especially when feeding. I tie some of my hourglass jigs to emulate this. The others I try to maintain the horizontal for swimming action.
