I am trying to limit myself to a dozen a night, because I don't have enough heads to last me for 4 weeks if I tie much more than that...LOL If I find some patterns that are working well....I can always make some more..

Re-reading this thread I'm thinking making a mix of the Ruby slipper and some pearl or pearl pepper. Supposed to go get the eyeballs checked tommorrow but I don't want to go LOL.

You guys that get these feathers to use...what happens first, you loose the jig, or the dye runs? I use saddle hackle for saltwater jigs. Some places I fish you will not loose a jig, it's all sand, and the dye runs like a deer after a while.

If the color is running someone didn't use the vinegar to set the color. The only reason I know that is from reading the stuff that all the guys who do dyeing state that they use it.

If any of your store bought materials that have been dyed are running I'd be sending them BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that should NOT happen.

Great ties on those. You'll get hooked on fox. It's one of my favorite materials. All the action of marabou, without the waste.

Dyes can also run because the feathers were not cleaned properly prior to dying. The person doing the dying didn't remove the natural oils from the feathers so the dye could set.
