This is one of my most productive crappie jig patterns for my area. Will drill the eyelets out before fishing them. ;)

Pup, I appreciate your posting complete head, materials, & finish details. As a bright attractor color combo for low-visibility conditions, troos-orange-troos would be my exact choice, except I might want a bit more flash accent. Is that a collared head, or heavy material buildup?

P.S. My wife says the jig looks like an "Easter chicken" whatever that is.

Thank you both for your comments.

JungleJim,

I do have quite a few different colors to date and am always looking out for more. ;)

Hawnjigs,

Yes, the head is collared. As a matter of fact, it's a very wide collar too. Add the paint and epoxy to it and it becomes even wider. This is the reason I use 70 denier thread to tie this jig. I comb the short hairs away from the long fibers to reduce the fur bulk at the collar.

I purchased this particular type of fur at a fabric store. Its 1.5" length is ideal for 1/16-ounce jigs and smaller.
