I am just getting into tying and was wondering where or if there is a place to buy "beginners kit" for painting? I saw some called herbie's magic dust is it any good? Any other ideas?

Thanks

I've never used it, but fishhunter(here on the site), grandpa bobs, Crazy angler Tackle and Tj's tackle all sell Pro-Tech or look at all the threads on Powder Paint sites in the paint shop.

Don't know of anyplace that has a painting kit...... Crazy Angler is pretty cheap though. Barlows has almost the entire selection of Pro-Tech colors.

I have 2 colors that i could send your way if you wanted. They were colors that are very close to others that i already had so don't really need.

Thanks for the info guys. Attica hit me with a pm on how I can get the colors from you. Thanks a lot for the offer.

TJ's is where I get mine at. Also Rosie's is another good place for bulk. And also if you have any auto body shops around you stop in and talk to them. Sometimes its a easy score that way also.

The only kit I've seen was on Eastwood powders. It's not cheap though. I get mine like the other guys. Tj's tackle, Barlows, Jann's. I've herd of guys getting it from powderbythepound website, good prices. Personally I recently started buying on eBay and after a few not so good paints I found a guy who sells stuff I think is better than the major jig brand.
Anyway I wanted to say... I started out by buying 4 or 5 jars. Now after a few years I bet I have close to 40 colors and clearcoat glitters, etc! If you want to know what I use most, it's the first 4 or 5 colors I purchased. Black, white, green chartreuse, yellow chartreuse, and pink.
And another thing. I paint a lot of jigs and powder lasts forever.

Cabelas use to carry a kit of 6-7 different colors. But I've always bought by the jar because some of the colors I'll never use.

I would buy the white at Harbor Freight. It's like $5 for a full pound. They also have a red that's close to stop sign red and an orangish yellow that's close to the color painted on roadways. They have black too, but it's not shiny so I would buy that elsewhere.

Other than HF, I only have experience with the Pro-Tec colors. I've never had any problems with them. I'd get black, pink, chartreuse (both), blaze orange and some form of dark green.
