Alright, we all love to tie new and different stuff to see what we can come up with. What is that color combination or two that is your go-to jig? That one you just HAVE to have!

That answer is as simple as black and white..... literally. ;) Those are my fall back colors if nothing else is working. Bright and flashy silvery is another that is hard to beat.

My go to is mallard or gadwall flank feathers so it seems like it's black/white or gray white combo. I can always add color to the heads. I'd hate to carry just those though.

Orange/chartreuse whether plastic or tied always seems to work at my favorite pond. but I'm getting real fond of the flank feather jigs.

A have-to-have, all-purpose combo for my smallmouth bass fishing would be black/brown. A close second choice would be brown/orange. Color combos for other species are different than these.

1/8oz brown or black bucktail jig with a small soft plastic trailer or some longer silicone skirt strands, that is what I use when I can't get a smallie to hit a jerkbait in the cold water and my confidence starts to waiver a bit, the bucktail is a bait I know will get bit if there are any fish nearby!

A black jig is hard for me to beat day-in and day-out and chartreuse would be second. I have used electric chicken but they don't seem to work so well, may have to change around the colors and see how that would help. Never have much luck with any pink jigs.

Posted these a while back, but they are still my go to set, color-wise. I just do the blaze orange head when I'm throwing em together for next day fishin.

But all depends on where I'm at. Weird how that changes w/o next to know change in water clarity.

LP, I like those a lot! For me, it seems like blue head, chartreuse body and tail does well in the spring, chickens in summertime, and pink/blue/white and black/orange in fall and winter. If I had to pick just one, it would be black/orange. For bluegill fishing, black/brim buster/gadwall with copper flash...

This fall, I started fishing duck jigs more, and it is amazing how the gills and crappie take to them. I am really getting to where a pink head/mallard flank jig or black/chart/orange head with gadwall flank are the first two jigs I tie on.

LP, great paint job and ties on those. First thought looking at the head was it looked just like a real goldfish. Crappie like goldfish ,too.

I have two: electric chicken flash duck, the second is a gray tailed jig with a silver tinsel body and silver fleck head. In the spring is when I will use a black jig.
