Can't reall call this salt but close

Shad come from salt water and run up the fresh water creeks to spawn. When you are in the middle of a school spawning, fishing gets crazy. Had an early taste of the shad season on the east coast yesterday.

Size was great. Most over 15". We boated 30 in a few hours. Shad darts and spoons were used. Everyone was catching yesterday

Line is six pound Mean Green or 12ish pound Tectan. Darts weigh between 1/16th and 1/8th oz depending on current. Sometimes use a spoon at the bottom. Darts just have a simple tie of a couple strands of flashapo, then trimmed 1/4" below the bend of the hook. Colors are yellow, orange, chartreuse or white. I usually tie the heaviest spoon/dart on the bottom with a loop holding a lighter dart about 12" up. Color really doesn't matter - when they hit they hit out of aggression rather than hunger. UL or L rods make it fun on the double hookups.
