While I have no understanding of the crappie&panfish business at all, I must say that that is a beautyful colour combination. :icon14:
I find that Mardi Gras tinsel very interesting in particular. Have you once held it under darklight? Any glow? those blueish fibers in between remind me of the "UV polar chenille" that my tackle dealer robs me 4,5€ for a 30" string, making it unavailable for commercial ties.
Are there any variations with longer, softer fibres?

Bucho, that's actually purple you're seeing in that Tinsel & if I'm not mistaken, it comes in size 12 & 14 & maybe even larger. Danville makes it but IDK how you would go about contacting them. Good luck though.

Ok, thanks, not wat I was looking for. Looks like the stuff I am after is actually beeing made for flyfishing. I just can´t let loose of the imagination that some guy somewhere in the world sells it by the pound....

Looks like a good crappie catcher to me.

I like the thickness of the body compared to the head.

Bucho:

Danville has a web site you can use to contact them at www.danvillechenille.com. They do sell in bulk and will make custom color combinations.

UV polar chenille is made by Hareline Dubbin, and even here it's relatively expensive compared to other chenilles. It comes in 3 yard packages, though. It sounds like your shop is cutting it up and repackaging it. You may want to contact Hareline to see if they can recommend another source in your country. They also have special pricing for commercial tyers ordering in bulk. Their site is www.hareline.com.

Glitter eyelash yarn used for kitting is kind of similar in construction, so you may want to look into that.

Thanks for the info Shoemoo!

Unfortunately, there are two kinds of brown UV Polar chenille on the market. One has the same texture as the Harelie regular polar chenille, the other is a bit more coarse and has copper tinsel in it. I´m afraid the latter is from hareline. Problem is that the homepage doesn´t show details.

I get the coarse kind of UV PC from my regular supplier, which I believe is hareline. But its only the fly guy around the corner who says he had to break his neck to sneak a few bags out of that one danish guy´s pocket who has the "good stuff". He had just started a little campaign promoting that "Isolde" pattern which makes use of it and has all reason to supply himself with it.

I´ve known him for over 15 years and I believe him when he says to be surprised about the supply difficulties. He wouldn´t cut it up because he was cheap, but to spare himself the embarressment of not having any- I can think of that.

Its really confusing and I´m tired of ordering one kind of stuff and ending up with the other. Will have to figure a way around it. Isolde seems to be bloddy effective, she´s worth it .

I can tell you for sure both are made by Hareline. A local store carries all the colors and I have seen them in the original packaging. Brown is just called Brown and the one with the copper mylar is Copper.

You can see pictures of the individual colors here:

https://www.intheriffle.com/store/UV-Polar-Chenille.html

If you want, I can get you UPC numbers for the different colors so you can confirm which one it is before you order.

Thats very kind of you! In the meantime however I finally found a german web shop with decent pics that got me to the same conclusion. Just ordered a few bags from them. The micro uv chenille looks nice, too. I hope it will turn out right, otherwise I´ll get back to you for those numbers, Thanks :icon14:

I´m sorry but I got really confused from that local guy with his little shop, - who gets most of his stuff from the same wholesaler(dealing hareline!) as I do - I don´t know what to believe any more. It should be simple, as you wrote it.
