Holy smokes man!!! You got more in your travelin bag than i got scattered here in the home office!!! LOL Every day I look off the rig I get bummed cause we cant fish anymore... We used to make out own jigs with 3/8ths stainless tubing and a wire leader... Plat a couple treble hooks on that thing and catch whatever swam by. You could skip that sucker across the top and the Mahi would kill it!! The good ol days.

I used to cart a 'Milwaukee' tool box - i actually picked up off the street as junk - back and forth to work each day and tie on my lunch if the river was blown out and not fishable...... the good ol' days indeed. I only had a few things tough and changed out supplies as needed. Looks like you take EVERYTHING!

That is terible that you can't fish off the boat any more. Even worse to watch the game fish swim by the boat. Need to start a petition among the fleet saying how much it would raise the morale of the crew to get the chance to cast a line and eat FRESH caught fish while stuck on your moving island for 30 days at a time. Why would they not allow it as long as the crew member is on BREAK...... can not be too much of a risk (insurance wise) for them to allow it. huh?

Russ,
It's not so much my company.... they leave it up to the individual Captain onboard to make the decision, It is the Oil company that pretty much sets the rules. I have 3 BP reps on board at all times, and they have strict policies against fishing. We are on a 180 day a year contract with them, So the rest of the year we do freelance work, and we are sometimes able to fish doing that work.... but not like the old days.
I actually talked to the rep the other day, and since we are working in a location not close to any instalation... he said he would turn his head, and said he wouldn't mind some sushi! LOL We'll see how it goes.... I haven't seen any active fish in the last few days..... so.....I will be keeping my eyes open!!
