TOO MUCH TORQUE!  I got out for a little while last night and tried one of the spinners with a swimbait body.  The whole package was laying flat on its side or even rolling at times when i was reeling too fast....

AF, might want to keep trying with the sideways posture? I know some baitfish (up to and including Bluegill) will lay on their side, flat, as they're dying. Doug Stange on In-Fisherman like to add plastic swimbait bodies to various spinners, and rigs them to lay sideways. He believes it increases the number of bites he gets. I haven't done much of that to verify it.
