1/32 wool jigs

couldn't waite to get home tonite and tie a couple jigs, settled on a 1/32 with wool body and just a little bit of kiptail down the sides for contrast, this color combo really pops and I was very happy with the outcome, tied them with thin mono thread to prevent a thick neck, and then just went over the neck with red thread just before tying off, gotta get some more wool.

these pics really don't do the jigs justice, if these things don't catch crappies etc. I'll be shaking my head/ the head is blaze orange, red thread neck, sculpin wool body in white, and green chart. kiptail streak down each side, 1/32 oz. heads with size 4 sickle hooks.

didn't use any flash on these, just didn't want to mess with the look and texture, so tried it without and was satisfied with the outcome. you take a jig like this and put a crappie nibble on it, it's got plenty going on the way it is.

Great use of wool there,for a small jig!! This should look like a baby bluegill,as water seeps into the wool, so with that cool profile& wise color choice,look out for big bass & channel cats on light gear!!! Over the past several days, I've" thickened" the top section of my Boolies with real, natural colored wool, and have landed,along with my 31 yr old son, close to 70 trout(many very nice sized, despite our spot being a very hard hit, big city "picnic" lake) on the darn things!

I'll be getting some wool today or tommorrow, but here's a question for you?? Does Red always use the natural wool or does he also use some dyed wook. One of the girls at work showed me at AC Moore that they have not only the natural wool roving but also dyed colors of it.

Fatman, Red uses a lot of natural wool, but he also takes the natural off-white colored clumps and dyes em with simple,basic food coloring! He says this is a permanent color and doesn't seem to fade -of course he catches a big bunch of crappies, and goes thru jigs very quickly, so may never use a dyed one long enough to see it fade!

tied up a few more wool jigs this evening, this should give me enough to give them a try.

these were 1/32, should be just right for cold weather crappie fishing in the ponds around here.

thanks for the kind words ya'll, and just to touch on something Iv'e learned tying these, do all your hard stretching and pulling of the wool fibers before you tie them on the jig because I have pulled my wool away from the head a couple times trying to do this after wards. the wool is very strong and can withstand alot of pulling and stretching, it takes on more of a minnow shape the more you stretch it out, but like I said before, if ya buy wool on the hide near about all the peices will be different, at least the ones Iv'e handled.
