Not all with a fly rod but in fly fishing areas only I use them allot excellent for trout out here.

Easier to tie for me main reason I use them and they catch gills like there is no tomorrow. Plus they are just right on my 3/4 wt rod I use.

Probably would use more of what you suggested if I did more fly fishing than I do...

These are also killer for ice fishing sometime that small presentation is just the ticket.

I could see them working exceptionally well as a "cross over". I have settled on 1/64 oz is about as small as I go for ice.... can't feel or see the bite as well on the super light stuff. (I am a huge fan of tungsten ice jigs!)

Doc where did you get that small of a minnow head?

Custom mold I had made awhile back has ballhead on one side and minnowhead on the other side

Nice, the little #12's were the only things the trout here would hit consistently here with the rivers running low and clear. The amazing thing is how well they can hold even big fish. They are worth the trouble, actually wish they made a #14 in a sickle.

#14 would be pretty deadly but I think one that small would fall into fly tying category even though it would still be a jig head.

It is amazing how these little hooks can grab hold and not let go if you do everything right on hour end.

Deadly.

Just picked up some 60* - TMC 403BLJ hooks in a size 14 & 16. Might want to check em out for your mold. They are babrbless, wide gap. I'm going to have to modify a Hilt's Trout 100 mold to accomedate them.
