If Santa is good this year

If Santa is at all good to me this year, I'm considering taking up powder coating my jig heads. Not so much because I think they will catch more fish, but more because it would make a good way of whiling away the hours of the Winter off season. Anybody have any tips for me? I'll be totally new...

    Painting Jig Heads

I have a bunch of 1/8th oz. round head, lead jigs. I bought the lead heads unpainted because painted ones are more than twice the price. I picked four colors for starters and decided to use Testor's model car & plane paint in red, green, yellow & black. I mounted the jigs in my vise, jig head...

    Olive Wooly Bugger

Someone told me the other day, that the best all around fly for Crappies is the Olive Wooly Bugger. I find that easy to believe. How do the rest of you feel? What's you favorite fly pattern for Crappies?

    Squid Jigs

I have some skirted tubes designed for land locked kokanee salmon. I also have some 1/8th ounce round-head lead jig hooks. I don't know why it didn't occur to me before now, but putting them together looks like the might work OK for crappies. What do you think?

    Twisted Marabou

I decided to use twisted marabou on this jig instead of chenille. The rib is heavy gold wire. What do you think?

    Glass Bead Streamer

Here's another fly pattern that just popped into my head. I can't take original credit for it because I've probably seen one somewhere before. I can't help but think it would be a good attractor pattern though. Hook: Mustad, size 8, streamer hook. Thread: UNI, 6/0, Red. Tail: Hot Pink Marabou...

    Roadrunners?

I've found that I have several (less than 20) Roadrunner jigs without tails. Some are in white and some in yellow. Does anyone use Roadrunner jigs to tie their own? Would they be any good for Crappies?

    My Orange Blossom Special

This fly works great trolled slow and deep for lake Cutthroat. It has out performed all other flies for me in that respect. I can't help but think it would work just as well for Crappies trolled in short jerks over weed beds or around stumps. Hook: Mustad, Size 8, Streamer. Thread: UNI, 6/0...

    Wrong Forum. Whoops

I guess I should have been putting my fly pics and patterns in the Fly Pics/Patterns forum instead. I'll do that starting with the next fly.

    Crappie Flies Tutorial?

I'm new to this forum and I don't know my way around yet, so forgive me if the answer I'm looking for is obvious. I like fishing with spinning gear and I'm certainly no stranger to the slip bobber. But, my favorite method of fishing is with a fly rod. I'm looking for a list of crappie flies with...
