    Did some Marabou Skunks today.

Doing some jigs for a cousin of mine. He told me to do, "whatever you can, I like blue and green." ROFL. He knows not what he asks :) Anyway, I did some 1/32 tube jigs in "Dragonfly" from CAT with a white base coat. I already had the same jighead in Chartreuse. Then I did my "Marabou...

Prototype Jumbo in-line spinner Mk. II

For a couple years now, I've been wanting to make an in-line spinner big enough that I could throw it with my surf rod. A little over a year ago, I did the Mk. I version, which did technically work, but wasn't quite what I was looking for. I had some BIG brass weights on it, and the entire...

    Got some done today...

One of my co-workers has asked me to tie up a few jigs for her. She requested "pink camo, and sparkly". Ok..... Hard to see, but I've got Dun Grey and Fl. Pink marabou for the tail. I like this one. White and Fl. Pink marabou for the tail, and a grey saddle hackle collar. I'm not sure...

    Pond at work, 3-28-2015

I wanted to try that Peacock and Starling soft hackle micro jig today, and see if I would have a better hookup ratio than the size 12 Aberbeen hook. I was fishing the jig under a weighted float, so I could throw it with one of my panfish rods. First cast went into the emerging cattails, and...

Peacock and Starling as a jig

I found what I think are a few 1/80th jigheads on size 12 sickle hooks. They were in a bag of sample jigs that LedHed sent me. I tied up some Peacock and Starling patterns on these. I've learned that if you hang these micro-jigs under a float and SLOWLY retrieve the rig along a weedline, or...

    Pond at work, 3-21-2015

I had a little extra time Saturday after I ended my shift, so I decided to stop by the fishing pond on property and see if anything was responding to the warming temps. As I was walking down to the pond, I saw a couple surface hits, small fish slurping midges, so I figured I would try an...

    Lake Sahoma 3/7/2015

I just couldn't resist the urge to get in a little fishing after I got out from work Saturday. SWMBO had managed to get everything I needed to make dinner, so I didn't have to go to a busy grocery store on a weekend... Stopped at one of my local home lakes (there are two close together)...

    Loading chenille on a bobbin

I've read about this. Finally got an empty thread spool, a spare bobbin, and jig order big enough to warrant doing it. Hardly any waste!

    Pill head jigs?

Hi all. I have a buddy that might be interested in some pill heads. Does anyone here pour them? Or is there a source where my buddy could just buy some?

    Black Wooly Bugger

Tied on a 3xl size 6 "all-purpose" hook. Hollow metal bead head for a SLOW sink rate. Tail is black marabou and black krystal flash. Body leftover marabou from the tail, furled and wrapped around the shank. Hackle is black saddle hackle. Rib is Brassie-sized silver wire.

    Some Marabou Jigs

A buddy asked me for some marabou micro jigs. I did some 1/64 ball head jigs with sickle hooks. I tied in two colors of marabou at the bend of the hook. I twisted one color into a rope, wound that onto the shank, tied it off, then just pulled the second color straight over the first. I'm...

Did some paint mixing a few days ago...

Read through the some of the Paint Recipe thread. I have some HF Black and HF Yellow, so I mixed up some Watermelon and some Pumpkin. I did a test on some jigheads. The two upper-right jigs are the Pumpkin. Now I need to work on glitter. I have a big multi-color pack, just need to either...

    Did a couple more today.

All jigs are 1/16 oz Walleye heads from CAT. Top two are Salt and Pepper New Age Chenille with Satin tails. Bottom two have chartreuse wabbit zonker tails and crosscut white wabbit zonker bodies.

Some various color combos I did today.

1/16 oz Walleye heads. Various paint jobs, and various ingredients for the tie. These are intended for my buddy that's headed to Canada this May. I may have to tie up a few of these for myself. I'm really digging the white w/ silver mylar.

Need some help identifiy/sourcing a jighead

A friend on another forum has a "favorite" jig that he and his wife like to fish with. His source has dried up. The main problem is the jighead itself. It's some kind of minnow head, and the top of the head is thinner than the base. The pic I saw has eyes, but I'm not sure if they're painted...

A buddy challenged me to do a CDC and Deer Hair Caddis, size 26

So I did a couple. Realized I really need some size 12/0 thread. The 26's are on the right. 22's on the left for scale.

CDC and Deer Hair Caddis size 22

Ok, I went ahead and bit the bullet, and tied a couple size 22 CDC and Deer Hair Caddis flies.

    CDC and Deer Hair Caddis

I heard that the Trout in the Lower Illinois River are hitting size 18 black Caddis flies. Decided to tie up some, in a few different sizes. That's a size 20 in the vise. And here's the small hatch (so far) that came off my bench. The two on the upper right are size 16, two bottom right...

    Firehole Streamer

Saw this one done over on FAOL. Figured it would probably be a good idea to add a few to my boxes, as I'll probably be chasing some Trout in a month or so.

    Some Zebra Midges

One of my local forums has mentioned that the Trout on the Lower Illinois River are hitting Zebra Midges, Olive and Copper. I tied some up. The upper two are size 16, middle is a size 18, bottom is a size 20. I would have had two each of all three sizes, but I kept dropping the second size 18...
