    Painting

Pulled out my other set of paints on Saturday...... Is a stretch for me painting with watercolor where it is better to let the paint flow where it wants to go........... i get too anal trying for detail. Most of my sketches and painting is odd Dr. Seuss type stuff where one can screw...

    Couple bucktails

Got around to tying a few last night. Nothing much special, 1/4 oz (tin) w/ Gamakatsu hooks...... and lots of flash. The red/white utilizes some red satin tied on the shank under the bucktail. :jig:

    Almost plated look with powder

Been messing with some very bright and shiny tin heads down on the paint bench lately. These are candy base colors (gold, chart, red) that are coated with a very thin layer of paint. It has always been tough for me to get an even layer of powder using the candy colors. If it gets built up...

    Wonder if........

Wonder if i could 'legally' get rid of the 'pest' that is destroying my property! Any guess what the pest might be? :dodgy: I caught him trotting off when i went out to warm up my car in the morning. I am thinking i really need to get this 'infestation' under control. :shells...

    Last nights oddities

Finished my swap jigs last night and pulled out a few other heads to tie up. Showing the group pic just to give an idea of the size difference. First two are nose bleeder chubs. Did not go for subtle either. :D Tied with rabbit on the first one and craftfur/baitfish emulator on the second...

    New spoons and few blades

I finally cured some blades and spoons i had painted a while back. They had been just hanging on a peg waiting for some spare time to cure. The main colors are candy paint so the flash of the nickel finish shines through and catches the light. This is all powder paint using brush tap and some...

    Happy Halloween

Has to be the favorite holiday in our house. Lots of color in the woods, scary movies on the tube, black cats on the porch, ghosts hanging from the trees, roasted pumpkin seeds to eat......... and candy! It will be sad in a couple years when both my kids don't hit the streets for treats...

    Tail Action Video

Had to do a google search to find out what "Inchiku Style jigs" were after seeing one of our international members post something about them. As i was browsing some information, came across this video on the Tube. Talk about some amazing tail movement! It looks like it is just a thin piece of...

    Sunday Afternoon

Got out yesterday afternoon (glad i didn't stick around to watch the Browns) from 1:00-4:30 after my usual Sunday morning chores were done. Headed to the local 'fishbowl' with some fresh caught baby bluegill from my pond. Original intention was to find crappie suspending in the middle or maybe...

    What to do with.......

10 lbs of Roma tomatoes? There is easily just as many MORE that i still need to pick today and probably just as many rotten ones on the vine. Would guess we have at least 20lbs. once they are all picked and maybe a pound of cherry tomatoes too. Gave away two large bags today but it didn't...

    Simple ties + yarn bellies

First two are pretty straight forward.... minnow head is 1/16 and ball head is 1/32. Cool weather setting in so need to get out and try some evenings at my local res for crappie. These are a little more complicated - but they really come to life in the water. ~15 mins to tie each. Heads...

    Oct/Nov In-Fish

The current In-Fisherman issue has a decent article about using hair jigs for smallmouth, that for me, was worth getting the issue. They show off some good looking patterns - one or two i have seen (and copied) already in the past. :D Kind of comical that they have 5 different companies listed...

    Wool w/ hackle necks

First one is a 1/24 and others are 1/32's. Used the hackle neck thinking it would somewhat keep the full profile of the wool. Who knows, look like they might be able to find some bluegill.... or a crappie if i get lucky.

    Wet Feet

New responsibilities at work limit my breaks, finally got out the last two days at lunch...... ahhhhh. Not much notable about the fishing but sure nice to get my feet in the river. Water level is low and pretty clean. Yesterdays hole. Is a favorite of mine and may have taken a picture or two...

    Big n' bright bass jigs

Tied some of heads i recently painted. These are all 1/4oz (leadfree) with 1/0 Gamakatsu hooks. Think they turned out really nice and hopefully will hook into a few bass with them. These are 'new' all around...... new head styles with some new colors of silicone tabs and even some chenille i...

    Few new paints

Got a chance to get down into the paint cave and test a few new paints and newly acquired custom pours...... Played around some with the traditional look of nose painted shad darts. Decided i like them the best with just a short (lengthwise) dip in contrast color at the nose. These are also...

    Fire Roasted Red Taters

Our new favorite side dish to just about anything. Very simple and delicious! Have been using a large cast iron baking pan, but can use any pan that can go on the grill. Quarter up enough small red potatoes to cover the pan and place them in a bowl. Keep the chunks big - maybe 1" x 1"...
