Been busy with harvest and just popped in here and you guys re-arranged the furniture. Thought I’d find some explanation in the announcement area but no. Maybe I’m looking in the wrong place??

What do you harvest? I’ve been dropping by the forum, too, hoping it will start getting more activity. I offered to buy it months back when they needed funding. I'd like to get people talking and buzzing in here. : ) There's a lot of potential.

Hi, I raise dry land white wheat. Pretty much all you can grow around here is wheat varieties unless you have irrigation. Most of the irrigators around here are growing spuds, canola and corn. I’m also rather confused about why the traffic here just seemed to die. At times things were kinda slow and I thought with covid keeping many people at home things would have really picked up but it was just the opposite. I don’t know what the answer is but would hate to lose this resource of information because I learned a heck of a lot here.

Well sir you never replied to my last question about how your newly filled local trout lake was doing?

As a full time jigger been learning a lot over the years I could share but ain't wasting my time posting if no one cares.

About the big drop in activity...... i wish i had an answer. It just kind of tanked out and never came back. I went on some posting sprees here and there trying to get things going but it only worked for a short period of time. A few other members i think tried something similar. It doesn't make sense since a lot of articles i see on other websites talk about the resurgence of people using hair jigs. Maybe that is just product hype? Not sure, but i have been using hair and feather jigs with great results for a long time now. I certainly have several other options i throw when walleye fishing but probably 95% of my panfish or bass fishing is done with hair jigs.

The JC site has changed ownership so i am no longer in charge. All the updates were made by the new owner. I think the new layout looks great! I believe i am still a moderator here though.....? For a little while, i was unable to post since it was saying my account was not verified. Not sure what his long term plans with the site are. The timing honestly worked out because my work load tripled over night a few weeks back when by biz partner had a minor stroke and is still recovering. Him and his wife were out for several weeks and only back in the shop part time at the moment. Also moved my daughter in to her college dorm..... that was pretty rough. I have been busy to say the least and haven't been fishing in probably a month. THAT needs to change very soon though. All work and no fishing makes Jack a dull boy.

As for those who paid (just a few months back) to help keep the site up and running..... i do plan to fully reimburse you! Duffy, you paid through snail mail so send me a PM with your address and I will get your $$ back to you.

Hmm must have missed that one… Could have sworn that I had posted that once the alge goo cleared up the fishing was pretty good as I was told by some trout fishermen. Now the water level is way back down because we haven’t gotten any real rain since Jan, Feb and if we don’t get some moisture this winter it’s probably going to dry up next year.

When I go out north to do my field work I’ll try and swing by the lake and get some pics. I haven’t been by there for some time but others have said it’s pretty low.

I'm hoping JC activities pick up soon. I know that there are "many " people that are involved in crafting their own baits. YouTube has a large number of guys posting videos on a regular basis. I feel that if some of them belong to a site it would help improve more interest. I didn't get involved with crafting my own baits from YouTube, I was a member of a site that had some very talented people that were more than willing to share with others. Until some guys came along and trashed the site with their villainous comments that first started by trolling and then became members trying to force their bullying tactics. This drove off the best people that actually had an ethical philosophy and a moral sense of responsibility for passing on to others.

Moderators are very important in controlling those non-angler idiots that have nothing better to do. I stopped visiting some forums because of nonrelevant replies that weren't moderated resulting in fewer posts.

I wonder why most prefer anonymous locations? Knowing even the state someone fishes provides others with insight into their available species, methods, and proximity to water bodies.

For example Bucho and others posting about night fishing gave my walleye success a quantum leap this year.

This was probably due to the lack of content, and things to do. People don't want to be a part of a sinking ship for long. However since taking over the site, activity is getting higher - so I will moderate etc, and if other would like to volunteer, happy to entertain the thought!

I've been the objective target on a site that I was on since 2004 and one person started to trash a few others about their life and basically turned on a whole group of not so friendly people to attack those that didn't follow their beliefs. Just like the Taliban! I see these people on many other sites and I am very disappointed with them. These are same people that showed up on January 6th. Their snarky comments are very much like...well let's just see who dies from the Vaccine, anti- Vaccine,anti government, anti everything! Fueled by people sitting at home and trolling the internet. I posted about our cat having cancer. 7 out of 10 posted negative comments, like a dead cat is good cat! WTH? But,Hey! Don't say anything bad about a dog ooh! No! The IQ level has reached it's highest level at around the fourth grade ?. Enough ranting!
I'm wanting to get some materials for tying some jigs and things aren't looking good "out of stock " on just about anything that you may think might be different for a jig. I just received an order from Stan's bobbers . These are slip bobbers that have a metal insert on both ends. I have tried the Thill ones with a copper insert only on the top and the tube of plastic on the bottom was trashed by line grooves like the old line guides from the fifties!
So I'll find out this spring.

There will always be aholes that distract others from content meant to help with suggestions, innovative ideas, observations and simple chat sessions not meant to get deep or polarized. Lure craft in my case is as important as catching fish, but I realize it's not so for many who would rather buy off the shelf than create something no one else has. Polarization kills truth via any media - especially fishing-related - and fewer visit or contribute over time - NYBASS as a prime example.

I realize many of my posts read like a book and along with a collection of abstract ideas, have been either ignored or ridiculed. I guess it's my fate to inform others of all the various factors of lure craft that get strikes once the lure is cast. Some though have actually shown appreciation and just might have tried some of my suggestions - though none have stipulated so. May as well send out those ideas via postage back to my home address. Not a problem. Writing stimulates that creative part of the brain that leads to other ideas. In the same vein is me looking down at my cluttered workshop table and imagining parts of soft plastic lures that, when joined, turn out to be something entirely different capable of catching fish of all species - anytime.

Few forums qualify as worth my time and effort when it comes to lure craft. Showing off fish is never my intent - showing what caught them and will catch them anytime in the future - is. Simple as that.

Yup, everyone has their unshakable version of truth filtering.

Mine is KISS, in fact just gave away a bunch of soft baits to a friend & feels good to lighten up. But hey, show me yours and maybe something will inspire.
