This pic was taken this morning on Old Ithaca Road near the town of Horseheads, NY at roughly 6am. The FedEx driver who brings me supplies hit this with his truck. He shared the pic with me.
We could not figure out if it's a hybrid coy-dog-wolf or a wolf.
What say you?

O.K.,I'm not going to try to show my wildlife management skills, but the farther north you get the bigger certain animals get. Coyotes are one of those animals that get bigger in the north then our southern coyotes. Colder climate and better food supplies. Coyotes are one those animals that can adapt anywhere you put it, that is why you see it the most arcoss the united states. Enough lesson, sorry! I see jigs too! :)

That's a coyote I would bet. I have a pic on my computer of a coyote with the mange I got on one of my game cameras last year. He looked like a hyena. I'll post it when I get home. I'm on my iPhone now.

I've probably shot 1000 of them over the years. I'll bet you Lost Pole. Only problem is how were going to prove it. Let's just say it don't matter. Scott: That thing needs to be put out of it's misery. When you ready to try and lose another rod Adam? Been gone a couple of weeks, but will be back and ready to fish next week. Don't know what the fish are doing, but one day on the water should tell me if there still there.

Coyote, I listen to them every night and they dine on my chickens every chance they get. Coyotes can breed with a german sheppard female . I owned a pup I caught once on a coon hunt. Warning That kind are more likely not to just run off when you come up. They are more aggressive than a coyote. Will stand and fight for a kill or pups.

I think it's a coyote too.It looks like the coyotes I see around here. There are no wolves in Missouri but my son claims to have seen one, said it was way to big to be a coyote. They make some killer jigs and I'd love to have some of the lighter hair to dye up. Skin that thing up.

Thanks for your insight guys. I saw the FedEx driver again this morning. He went back to the "scene of the crime" about 2 hours after he hit it. The NYS DEC Region 7 officers were there loading up the carcass. I believe they were worried about this critter being out and about in a very residental area full of schools and shopping plaza's. (I guess I would be too!)

Coyotes, will come in to residential areas mostly to get in the trash or if you have a lot of rabbits in the underbrush. Feeders for squirrels and birds draw them too easy. Snatch and run meal on those tame critters. I'd also keep the lap dogs in the house after dark. But other than that not a big threat unless its a hybrid. It will be big and look straight at you. You can almost see it thinking can I eat that.

Lost Pole, I'm sorry no bet this time around. My other half says "coyote". I had him take a look too. Of course around here, there are a lot of coyotes and we've shot our fair share of them because of our livestock, horses and chickens

I bet that's you Adam checking your camera.

Cloooooose, I'm not as pale. A lil bit better physique. The ladies love to treat me as if I were the man in the picture though :dodgy:. Ha.
I'm on a mission to shoot me a coyote that looks like the one in the pic to prove myself wrong.
