View attachment 1I saw a picture of one of the most coveted lures collectors buy . Its said to be one of the very first wooden body baits from around 1800 . I made something close to it just for discussion . Here it tis .

Sweet! That thing would make some noise going through the water. Could you imagine fishing that in a time when there were very few other 'flashy' lures?

Ya know what I sent that thing to a friend in N.Y. We may know what it catches in a week or so . I'm going to make another but this one will be an exact as possible Replica of it . FLYING Hellgramite by a fellow named Comstock it is considered the first lure with a wooden body ever made .
