First I have to say Thanks to AllenOk for posting his flies and for all the info in the replies in his post.

I tied these Stayner Ducktails on a curved hook (Miemco 200R)
fly 1
red hackle, chart/black size 2 chenille with silver tinsel, natural mallard flank and red thread 8/0 with 12 wraps of .015 lead wire.

fly 2
chartreuse hackle, black chenille size 2 with silver tinsel, natural mallard flank & chartreuse mallard flank and black thread 8/0 with 12 wraps of .015 lead

Really enjoyed tying these and am looking forward to using them. I can see where these would work in many different color combos.

Hi, Ronnie. Let me just say this. These patterns will attract some fish for sure. For what it is worth, in all the years that I tied and fished with Stayner Ducktails, I never once weighted the hook with lead wire. I fished lakes and reservoirs and ponds with a sinking fly line so that accounted for the weight getting the fly down.

Nice choice of hook. Let us know how they work out.

Stump, those look great! I really like #2!

I've been thinking about doing a few with some of the New Age chenille from CAT. Either the Baitfish, or the White/Silver kind. Maybe Salt & Pepper.

Oh heck! Major idea! I've got a stash of pearl chenille from BPS, White River brand. Lots of different colors. One of those is kind of a candy tangerine orange. Basically, a PERFECT match for a small goldfish or a Ruby Red minnow. I may have to tie up a few just to try at my home lake :)

Thanks guys.

Grampjigs, being a dry fly fisherman 90% I don't have a reel with sinking line so I add weight to the wet flies I use if they are weightless flies. I have a few Furled Leaders that WarrenP from FAOL made, we did some trading last year or maybe the year before. He sent me one for nymph fishing but I haven't used it yet.
