Over time, composite reel seats may degrade, resulting in a sticky, gummy mess. Rub the gum off with a soft cloth soaked with isopropyl alcohol (99%).
I have a nice Tica popping rod that I'm prepping for use and now its reel seat is once again clean, shiny, smooth, and comfortable.
