I had some free time and I was going to tie a few more jigs for myself thinking I may get out on Saturday or Sunday but as I getting my stuff out I dropped a bag of hackle and just picked it up and put it away and as I got my thread base down I noticed some feathers laying so I decided instead of putting them away I'll make a jig with them and this is the result. I had to use 2 pictures for you to really see it but it is kind of crazy but I'll try it! Thise is a 1/8oz weedless round head, I didn't add the weedguard so you can see it good, I used gold flash and natural bucktail for the body of the jig. Once that was done I used two hackle feathers in furnace color as sort of a split tail and then tied another in to create a hairy collar, it will be cool if it ends up catching a fish!!

It won't work. Trust me. Not where you are anyway. Send it to me, it'll work here. Lol j/k

Nice work! I'd be surprised if it didn't catch fish.

Outstanding bare bones natural tie - can't miss IMO.

Hackle necks are well proven attractors - I'd integrate them if Boolies weren't working so well for me.

Thanks guys, I learned a lot from this site and when I first used the hackle collars I was hooked, I could not believe how much they slowed the fall and how much they resembled gills on my larger jigs, especially the soft hackle, that just moved on its own and the fish really responded well to them. This jig was just something to try since I had the feathers out and if I get out Saturday I will try it, maybe in 37 degree water I may find a hair jig bite, who knows but thanks for giving me a little confidence to try it!!
