Was wondering, does one have to be a Texan to say "Howdy"? Like, if an Asian guy of small stature said that would you Lone Star locals consider that offensive?

Out my way, Haoles (persons of fair skinned European racial ancestry) saying "Aloha" would probably get an eye squint reaction from dark skin locals.

Are there locals specific greetings used in other areas?
