I vertical jig a large percentage of the time, and also fish a jig under a bobber quite a bit. What would you recommend for a tailing material for slow presentations like this?

Out here...
I like strung marabou... it has great action. I also use fox fur. I see a lot of hackle feathers as well, but I don't use them much.

I use hackle most of the time, but do have marabou, and deer hair jigs i tied with good results. I have not tried kiptail yet.

tie you up a few of each, and test in the sink/tub/pool and you will see the action of each.....

Kiptail and bunny....both have a nice action, and seem to hold up quite well. Marabou does not seem as strong...have not tried bucktail, but should work as well as the kip..

I don't fish vert. all that much - when i do it is usually through the ice. I'd vote for a waxworm tail. :D

For action, depends what you are wanting..... i'd say rabbit for the fastest most fluid motion and kip or short buck tail for slowest and keeping a certain shape. Just my oppinion tho.
