I was looking on YouTube tonight for a video that showed a fairly simple fly where the guy uses clear, easy to see, GOOD techniques. Here's one I found:

Watch how he prepares and ties with the feather... That's the key! He is tying small stuff with starling in the video, but the technique is what to pay attention to. Hope this will help someone!

*I will be the first to say that I don't know it all. I love tying flies, and love teaching folks what I can. My thought with the fly swaps is to learn something new each time... To step out of our comfort zone and try something we might not have otherwise tried. Tying techniques will carry over to jig tying as well! I know there's a lot of tyers here better than I am - and some real outside-the-box thinkers. It's my opinion that there's a TON of untapped potential where the mind of a fly tyer and a jig tyer collide. So many materials and techniques on both sides of the fence that are under-utilized. I guess my main point is I don't want to appear to be a know-it-all that's looking down my nose at others, so please don't take my posts as such! If I get that way, just tell me to stick it. ;)

Zac - Don't worry, we'll tell ya 'to stick it' if need be. :P I do not see the need.... yet. haha J/K

But seriously, i can't seem to get your link to work. I re-searched it through YouTube, try this:

[video=youtube]

Can't agree more with you, i do like having both the fly and jig side of the tying world together. It is the same and oh so different all at once - if that makes sense. I am still learning alot of the terms myself so any lines connecting point "A" to point "B" are always helpful.

Russ, I'll look into getting the link fixed. The problem is that I linked it from my phone, I think. My Blackberry is my crutch...

And I just don't want to "rope" you guys with a bunch of unneeded BS.

On another note, I test drove the jig I'm gonna tie for this swap and did VERY well with crappies this morning!
