I needed some jigs for a trip to Chincoteague in early September. I worked out a trade with Saltybuckster for some ultra minnow heads. He sent me 4 dozen ranging from 1/2-1 1/2oz. along with some ball heads. I powder painted them yesterday and tied up a few while watchin tv last night. Let me know what you guys think but don't be too hard on me since I'm kinda new to tying bucktails. The pink ones are craft fur, the rest bucktail. Thanks again Bruce.

I like the colors brings a little life to them compared to the plain old white bucktails, think they should do well for you. Are you planning on using them as they are or add grub tail on them... I like the color selection for sure way cool

Thanks for the kind words guys. I've never fished the salt before but hopefully they'll attract some attention.

I'll probably fish them bare and tipped and see what the fish want. Probably tip with Gulp.

I coated the wraps with 3 coats of Hard As Nails. Do you think that will hold up?

If you are going for flounder, just make sure they are heavy enough to be dragged along the bottom. You should feel the bottom at all times. When your jig feels heavy yank and reel, lol.

Very nice ties. Nice clean wraps on them. I use Min Wax Polyurethane on my wraps. Comes in like a blue/green can. 2-3 coats for wraps, and have even used it for coating the jigs.

Don't over look blaze orange right now. Great summer color.
If I am drifting, I want the jig to be able to bounce some on the bottom. Maybe 8" to a foot high. Also, I use a stick leader material called Perlon. Abrasions affect it the least IMO. Tie a dropper loop about 8"-12" above the jig, and loop on a teaser hook. Put a nice chunk of cut bait on there also. Flounder are aggressive fish and will follow/attack the bait several feet above the floor.

Cool video to watch from a well respected guy.

John Skinner on bucktails for flounder

Here is another one I think is even better. It shows how they will follow the bait when it is over 12" off the ground.
