Rough Fish Flies

After digging around the net looking up different sucker fish, i found this page with some interesting fly patterns. - Roughfisher.com - Some of these should work really well for bluegill and thinking some will be good smallmouth flies if used with weighted eyes or coneheads.

This is one that really caught my eye for gills, is a ways down the page....

Look like a variation of the Meta-Crappie using feathers and some chenille. Here are a couple of Meta-Crappie I tie. I use synthetic hair and some flash. Plus two contrasting colored wires spiral wrapped along the shank.

Wish I could still do flies, But the older I get the less patience I have, the more I screw up. Good look'in flies.

That first one looks terrible. Overall buggy appearance, bead chain eyes, rubber legs..... Tie up a dozen and send them to me for proper disposal! ;)

i'm actually freinds with jean-paul, and let me tell you, he is one heck of a rough fishing fanatic! he always seems to come up with some crazy nymph patterns! here's a carp that was fly rod caught on a wolly bugger!
