Picked up these little gems yesterday. Listed on a local fishin site. Drove 5 miles to pick them up.

Daiwa 500c Silver Series. Two are in great shape the other not too bad. Bail springs work and they turn relatively smooth - considering make & age. Got all 3 + extra spool for $60.

Holy moly! Haven't seen an external bail trip for awhile. As I recall, the Silvers were one of the earliest skirted spool designs which I believe Daiwa innovated. Made in Japan?

I once fished a Daiwa Silver Series 1500C and remember its bail tripping off of the red 'stop' externally as Hawn mentions. Pretty cool reel actually. Used it for several fishing seasons and wish I still had it.

Back in the day - used the heck out of the S series. The 500 & 700 for ultra light and the 1500 (got mine with blue chip stamps) for bass and cats. Even had a 4000 and think a 7000 for the ocean. I agree with you Pup - very cool reel - got a lot fish with mine.

Yep - all 3 were made in Japan Keith. These things are gold on eBay now.
