I got a 100 #1 worth style propeller blades in an ebay auction and they don't have the flat area where the hole is like the ones you have. They go on a bit hard and I worried I was going to break some barbs off.

I'm beginning to like those, you are using a #1 propeller, so what size head and hooks are you using? BTW, I like the way your first ones came out, but they look like tough ties trying to tie around the propeller and the fact that it probably slides down.

Ties look good -tho watch that you build up thread higher just in back of the bead if you chose not to use a cone. If the bead climbs back over the thread you'll create a spot that'll prevent the blade from spinning. As to sliding the propeller over the hook, I usually crimp my barbs down to begin with, This has actually increased hooking all species, has caused no premature releases with proper playing, and makes a quick hook removal & safe release easy!

Thanks all they were fun to try. The redman style head I believe Kip told me is 1/24th with a size 2 red sickle and the green one is a 1/32nd with a size 4 mustad.

JJ - now that I see the close up in the photo I see where the thread is above the bead, PLUS I tied it too far back gonna have to keep my space equal on all of them.

I pinch my barbs down as well if they don't go on easy, and I havn't seen an increase in lost fish. I've had my best luck with the smallest sized props, they spin easier. I like both the cone heads and beads, can't decide which is better. The thread above the bead will keep the prop from spinning but if you are using a jigging retrieve you'll get some flash from the blade.

I used glass beads as I have them from making spinners and the blades seem to spin against them really well. The larger ones seem weird when you go to tie them up cause then it seems it's all tails. I didn't have any problems with the blades slipping while tying them.
