Bernie Sanders is getting bad press from certain media sectors for being a "socialist" or even "communist" but far as I know he's the only politician to actively address the issue with more than lip service.

"Today I took people with diabetes across the border from Detroit to Canada to buy insulin — medication they need to survive.

In the United States, a single vial of insulin costs on average $340. But in Canada, the same exact drug is just $30.

We have to ask ourselves why this is possible. And it is because of two factors: the greed of the pharmaceutical manufacturers, and the fact that these companies buy off politicians who will protect their greed.

These lower prices are possible in Canada because that country negotiates drug prices with drug companies. They have the common sense to say that drug company profits are not more important than the lives of their citizens.

The United States must negotiate for lower drug prices, and it must allow cheaper drugs to be imported from other countries."

Altho my BP med is relatively inexpensive compared to others, I still cut the pills in half to stretch them out, remnant mentality from being brought up in a financially struggling family where I had to wait till age 12 to get my first rod & reel.  I'm sure I ain't the only one.

No longer have the luxury of good medical insurance with good drug plan, Ive found that GoodRx can save a ton of money. Perviously with my good insurance a 90 day supply of my maintenance meds BP and Cholesterol were 29.00
Via Good RX Im around 24.00. There is something wrong with our insurance regulations as well as the drug companies. But I cannot understand how goodRX does it but Major healthcare companies cannot

With my United Healthcare Medicare plan D prescription drug plan at $30.80 a month my generic BP med is $15 a month. GoodRX med cost is $18 a month so next year think I may drop plan D as it makes no sense to pay $30 a month premiums to save $3 on the med. Kicker is tho that being uninsured carries a penalty so re-upping coverage will cost more if GoodRX folds.

I too don't understand how GoodRX can discount prices without customer premium payments. Nor do I understand why meds are cheaper in Ohio than Nebraska.

A migraine epic pen costs about $500 and ain't covered in the US

In Canada about $13

Agree w/ you hear Hawn

Only issue with Canada is that most of my buddies over 60 are now dead because they became a burden to society and no longer contributed by working. I call it the Logan's Run plan

Jeez, there's money to be made bootlegging prescription drugs across the border, like whiskey in the 1930s?

Hookup, how is the Canadian gov implicit in your friend's deaths? We're all gonna meet our maker, but I believe proper diet, exercise, hygiene, stress management, and avoidance of excess may max our time down under.

Is their health plan attached to a workplace? I thought that was a U.S. thing.

From today's AARP news bulletin :

" EVERY single one of the 210 drugs approved by the FDA from 2010 to 2016 was based on science funded by taxpayers."
