Whats interesting is the evolution of journalistic integrity in 30 years. Back then you stretch a bit :
"Losing a hundred or so during a single outing"
"Three dollars worth of jigs might last you all year"

Nowadays lies are acceptable & its up to the consumer to ferret out the truth.

Out here...
That was a good read. And I think it can still apply to today with a little inflation, and not buying a $500 vise unless your tying flies. But hey if you target that market, you can pay that vise off purdy quick... Those boys got some deep pockets. By the way enjoyed the trip to Indy. the Children's Museum was purdy cool...

JM, Glad that you had a good trip and, yes, the Children's Museum is wonderful. :icon14: :icon14:

While on Google, I did a reverse lookup on the telephone number presented in the article.  It appears that the tackle store is still in business under the Frisbie family name.  Great to see small business persisting among the big box and internet stores nowadays. :icon14:

I used to fish a rocky Northeastern Indiana Reservoir Tailwater, sometimes several days per week and often 5-8 hours per day over the course of a summer.  Lost lots of jigs there, but doubt that it ever approached a hundred.  You become wise about fishing them and recovering them from snags after a fairly short while... :head_scratch:

20ct? My customers praise 3.90€ (4- something $) for a marabou boolie as humble pricing for a unique, durable product!
and no, no competitors yet... :P

It is the marketing where the effort and/or the money goes. My first 3 bucktail jigs that I put on e-bay to test the water 3 years ago scored 20 hits and 3 € revenue - combined!  :beat-up:  The lure industry calculates only 1/8th of the retail price for actual manufacturing. The rest is R&D, distribution, promotion etc. The retailer alone needs a rough 50% split to make ends meet.
