1/16th ball flattened into a Pill head, painted with Columbia's Dormant Granny Smith apple powder, green chartreuse eyes and green mallard

I think the chenille is called firecracker - got it in a swap box.

Thanks guys!!

Bo_G - I learned it from one of the guys on here. I can sit in front of the TV and flatten them, and then when I'm ready to paint they're all set. One thing to remember don't over squeez!!! or you end up cracking the lead near the eyelet.

FM, what do you use to flatten the head? I tried pliers and the jaws left little ridges on both sides. Did you modify a pair by grinding the "gripper ridges" smooth?

Nope - I had!!! can't find the darn things a pair of heavy duty wire cutters that I was using, but I have a pair of needle nose pliers (don't use the jaws you want to use the space in between the handles) if they have a large enough space to fit the jig into. If it does it makes it really nice to squeeze them flat.

I'll post a pic tonight

I use a hammer on smooth concrete, with no cracking of the lead. I hit each side a couple of times till I like what I see.

Glad to help - wish I could find a pair to make the indents for the eyes!!

find something like...a nail head(cut the nail off the head) or use a washer or two, the size of the eye you want to use and then glue or epoxy them to your pliers and you will have the indents for the eyes. Just a thought, have not tried it myself as I have the mold with indents for eyes.
