Tough fishing in the Eastern Sierras. Sacramento Perch really like the Belly Spinner Chub with a #6 EC Lil Nasty hook (2lb test line. Keith was using 2" gulp tails

Nice to see you back, Sonny!

I've never really seen a Sacramento Perch before. Those are good-sized ones, for the species, right?

Those things have to be related to the rockbass out here. Beautiful colored fish and looks like some chunks you found. Nice pics. The rockbass out here are good eating, hope you were able to keep a few for the skillet.

Sacramento perch sure do resemble rock bass. I agree with AF that rock bass are good eating and wonder if those are too?

Several of those certainly are whoppers!

Glad to see you and Keith out fishing again. Beautiful fish, look like they would make some tasty fish tacos. Those mountains in the back ground look fantastic.

Thnx guys

Allen - these are considered really good size, average ~2lbs. Talked to a guy who fishes the lake hard for SPs and he said this year's fish size is bigger. There is a lake north of Crowley that has larger SPs - 3s and 4s....

AF & pup - my buddy Keith says that these are absolutely the best eating panfish - ever! They have some thick fillets too. We only got 8 the first day kept 40 the next day. Trolled the weeds with 2lb test - lots of fun!

How do they fight compared to bluegill? New favorite?

Never heard of em so researched. Once abundant native species wild populations are nearly gone and declining due to habitat destruction and introduced species competition.

Better than crappie Keith, but not quite a Bluegill...

They take a beating at Lake Crowley - right now (prime time) - because they are delicious. There is a limit of 25 per day - now.
