Planning ahead just incase. But, If you have trouble fluidizing a color in a fluid bed, will mixing clear powder in with it help?

Sometimes yes sometimes no. My problem children are Janns White, Fl. Purple and black. I switched to pearl white. But adding clear to it kind of worked, and worked well on the Fl. Purple and black.

I didn't have that problem with the fl. purple and black in ProTec.

For a 2" bed with 3 tablespoons of powder try 1/4th teaspoon of clear to start and see how it goes. If still heavy after the 1/4 add another 1/4. Write down what worked for you.

You might fix one problem but create another...... if you add enough clear to a solid opaque color to help lift it in the bed, you will no longer have an opaque color. The base color (or raw lead color) will show through - some colors it will be an issue but other colors it will not be so bad. What color are you having trouble with?

I am no expert on the fluid beds (actually do not like or use them personally) but thought you could adjust how well the powder lifts by playing with the air pressure and type of filter you are using.

Jann's powder is Pro-Tech/CSI just re-packaged. Go to CS Coatings Purchase Info and Jann's is listed as a retailer.

White, green pumpkin, andmatt brown will give me volcanos but what you need to realize is the paint underneath is fluidized so all I do is just give the fluidbed a little swirl and then dip the jig, easy as that. I had seen some guys not want to swirl the fluidbed so they attached a type of vibrator to the cup and it did the same thing as swirling which is to move the powder so the heavy layer dosen't lay on top of the fluidized layer.

SJ - Is that the one from the guy over at TU that was going to try and use the magnet football game board to keep the fluid bed moving??

The other was the one you mentioned.

My least favorite color to paint with is white. I made a super sparkle white the other night that looks great but its just not a simple one dip and your done. Whites just always slow me down.

I haven't tried them yet, but I just got galaxy black, pearl white, chartreuse green, and chartreuse yellow. I need to pour more heads before I can try them out.
Is there any thing with these colors I should know or look out for?
