Hey thanks for the comments...
and I'll try the questions...
#1 tail is white bou with red flash.
#2 the knife had a learning curve, but I don't carry an electric knife anymore. Not as good as Chuck yet, but I'm workin on it.
#3 And so far all its needed is a few stoops on leather coated with some diamond paste ...
That gets her plenty sharp!
#4 These fish are black crappie that simply have a genetic trait that produces this black stripe. Interestingly biologists originally believed this trait was recessive but it is now known that it is in fact a dominant genetic trait. I’ve heard a lot of fishermen say that fish with the black stripe are males, but this trait is expressed evenly in both males and females in a population and will be exhibited in about 30% of all the fish..... Jig man we have those mutant crappie here on Caddo. Fish biologists tell me it is caused by inbreeding of white and black crappie. Looks like you had a good day on the water.

I caught a couple of those this past year myself out of a stocked pond. I've heard the "stripe" is a hybrid of White and Black Crappie. They will ocassionally slip in with the stocked Hybrid Sunfish or other stocked fish.
