Made 3 shad and 1 perch on a cold and frosty morning.

The shad shape proved to be a little easier to do. At least it was for me.

I am pleased with the way these turned out . Can't wait to try them when the crappies are jumping on the shad.

Nice ties!!!!!! But here's where my question came in about reversing the way the fly was tied in the YouTube video. The head is the right way but it's like the minnows belly is pointing up instead of down. And looking at these closely I can see what a PITA it would be to slice the tail section all the way up to the hook shank and then put the stuff on the jig to flip that!!!!!!!!!

I may actually try some of this stuff!!!!!! Thanks for all your examples!!!! It will save all of us alot of time.

FM- All things tied as flies would have the hook point down. Which when fished on surface ala the dry fly would not affect snagging ratio. But a fly fished beneath surface the snag ratio would increase because hook is equal to dragging an anchor then.

Its why I think jig fishing is superior to fly fishing as far as hook up to bite ratio. The hook is pointing wrong as far as I am concerned.
Now a clouser fly ( which is really a jig ) has its hook pointing up because of the hourglass eyes.

The gummy minnow material is clear. Color or finish is applied as last step. I am just starting to scratch the surface of how many different variants of the gummy is possible.

That top right shad has an excellent shape. How soft of a material is this - similar to a poured plastic bait?

Stiffer than a poured plastic AF. Clear comes in two different sizes of thickness .02 and .04. I have been using the .02.

That is why I have tied some tails on a few of them. I don't know if they will move enough. Will have to tank test a few soon as it warms up a bit. The finish is what has me warm for them. Holding in your hand it looks like a live minnow.
