Hawn - not much thread at all really!!! With those size 10 jig hooks if you use 210 flat waxed denier thread it doesn't take much at all. With all the hackle barbules it really builds a nice base so you don't use much. I was surprised - now if I was to go to a bigger hook, I have some old gudebrod thread I'd use to build the base the use the colored thread over the top.
