I threw jigs for the first time this week. I've always been a fly caster but have heard jigging can produce some nice fish. I started my day casting flies. I spent the first 5 hours of the day beating water with nothing. While I was fly fishing I didn't notice my net blew off the beach and into the lake. I decided to grab my jig fishing set up to cover more water and possibly catch my net. A few casts in I had a bump but chalked it up to the lake bottom. A few casts more and that same feeling so this time I set the jig. Not bad, ten minutes jigging and catch one. It's 4pm and I have 1.5 hours left in the day. I finish the day catching ten fish with  3 of them between  7-10 pounds!

Yep I became a junkie too. Try some of you steamer and large nymph patterns on jigs. Don't really need a fly rod any more especially in the winter.
