Just read the “Editor’s Bench” in the spring 2012 issue of the Fly Tyer. David Klausmeyer, author, was saying that the feather/hair craze is over. There was small but very interesting interview with Greg Becker of Whitewater flies.
So, if you didn’t sell its too late and there is going to be a lot of cheap hackle - soon.

I've talked to Dave a few times over at the Fly Tyer Site but I'll believe it when I see it. I hope it's true but I don't see the big guys ever lowering their prices after the big bucks they made.

I've called 6 hair salons here in Vermont and asked if they had any of the hair extension feathers for sale - and I'm getting the yeah for what we paid for them!! So that avenue for long saddles I believe is going to stay tied up for a while, unless theres a gold rush of it on ebay - and hoping us tyers will cut each others throat to get it and pay more.

Time will tell.

I'm all for some dirt cheap prices. I was just saying to my boyfriend lastnight..."for what I got, I know women would kill for my feathers." He told me that I would be a rich you know what for a little while. I would spend on more tying stuff.....crazy addiction! :D

It was fun while it lasted,I made a dollar or two and still have enough left over to tie up a few. I've been watching ebay's grizzly saddles and they still are going for over $100 so that's still 3x what they used to go for. When it get's back to where it was I'll be a player on some.

At the peak I saw Euro grizzly saddles go for over a grand. Those are going for about $150 now. There still might be some interest once it get's warmer, but I think the big buck saddles are history.
