My wife and I took our three kids (6,4,2) camping this past Wednesday through Saturday. The original campground we wanted to stay at on Oak Creek was full, so the first night we went to one at Whitehorse Lake near Williams, AZ. I took my two oldest fishing in the morning and they managed several small crappie and one rainbow, all on 1/64 with a size 8 sickle...prism dubbing body and sili legs tail. Here's my 6 year old, I taught her how to hold a crappie. :D

We spent the next two days camping in Cottonwood and taking day trips to Oak Creek. My dad joined us for those days and between the two of us fished about 6 hours, catching and releasing over 80 rainbows in the upper section of the creek. All on 1/100 oz size 12 jigs drifted under a small float, same dubbing/sili legs pattern as the 1/64. Fishing has never been so good there. Here's me with one of them:

The kids even did some trout fishing in the creek. My daughter caught 8 rainbows and my 4 year old son caught 5. Here's me and my son fishing a pool, landing a rainbow:

Great memories, and so much fun catching fish on jigs I painted and tied. I haven't fished with anything else in months. :)

Hawnjigs, everything we caught was stocked, except for one wild brown. It's probably 20 degrees cooler up there than Phoenix.

Salty, we didn't go to slide rock but we found a small water slide at the confluence of oak creek and the west fork perfect for the kids.

It good to hear y'all had a great time and everyone got to catch some fish. Beautiful river and looks like some good places to spend some time fishing. Thanks for sharing the trip and for posting the great pics :)
