Papaperch's bead fleas caught my interest... i had to make a few - but always have trouble leaving 'well enough' alone!
I altered the idea some
but think they have a similar profile.
Plan to use these first off through the ice tipped with a waxworm, but don't see why they wouldn't work on the fly rod or even under a float with spinning gear.
They are #10 scud hooks. Wrapped the shank with a layer of lead wire then built it up some more on the back of the hook with the wire. Covered it all up with some junk filler thread and put on some very simple tails. Stuck on 3D eyes then coated it with hard as nails. It took 3 coats of polish to get them solid and smooth. The white body ones are made with glow thread. Hope to be on the ice on Friday... will give a report!
