I wanted to tie some craw jigs but I didn't want to do the same od thing with them so I decided I would try something a little different in the way of color and this is what I came up with. The top jig is a 1/8oz walleye head painted brown, it has a little bit of orange and brown bucktail as the mustache, black barred orange and yellow rabbit strips for the claws with watermelon candy colored silicone skirt strands for feelers. I finished the jig off by tying in orange and black varigated chenille for the body, I call it fire craw for no other reason than the fact it has a lot of orange. The bottom jig is a 1/8oz walleye head painted white, it has white craft fur for the mustache, white silicone skirt strands as the feelers and chinchilla rabbit strips as the claws. I finished the jig off by tying in white chenille for the body, and this one is ghost craw for obvious reasons and while you can't see the 'stache hardly at all in the pics, you really can see them in person, my lousy photagraphy skills don't help my jigs out any. The craw jigs are really nice in the water too, I'm curious to see how well a not to natural color craw is going to work, should be interesting.

I applaud the effective simplicity of your tie pattern. Great colors, if one is slow the other might be different enuf to trigger attention. Those ties might be especially appropriate on like size football heads.

Nice ties SJ. There was a photo on the Big Indiana Bass website, recently, of a blue and white crayfish claw found in my area. I hadn't seen one before.

Thanks guys, Hawn, I take pride in trying to simplify certain patterns to make them effective yet easy and quick to tie. I really appreciate the extravagant and realistic patterns I see both here and other sites and there are some I know that I just don't have the skill to tie and others I see I try to find a quicker and or easier version. In the case of these craws, the guys here that do them really make some magnificent creations and for some reason I just could never get them to look right so I tried to find a way to get the basic profile and have a nice clean tie that would look good and be quick and easy to do and this is what I've come up with, it lacks the detail and good looks of the other craws but it has the profile, color, and is a clean tie. One day I'll be good enough to make some nicer ones but until then these will work!!!
