.......and among the bills and junk mail were two packages from JungleJim and Keith from Hawnjigs. Yeha. A selection of sweet plated heads from Jim and some wild wedge (?) style heads from Keith. Still gotta make up some mono and NP eyes for the crayfish for Keith's heads. Been distracted by the world pro women's surfing contest (and food and wine festival) at the beach across the road, so have only tied three from JungleJim. They are 1/12th with sickle hooks _ first time I've seen sickles in the flesh.
Black and gold are really popular colours for aany style of trout lure in Oz, did one in black and dark brown too, and a sorta baby rainbow colour scheme to round out the trio.
Tied with wascally wabbit and wabbit zonker:

Hiya Doc, I like yours. I better try a couple with chenile bods! What's your tails? Squirrel?
My necks are just thread painted over with nail polish then clear coat. Makes no difference to the fiishies but I just like smooth sheany necks/bodies.
Really like 1/12th size. It's a very rare size here.

I gotta try some squirrel too. Find maribou fragile for salt, but do love its movement. Like the way your pic shows off the nickel plating.

Nice jigs guy's. Doc the color on the jigs are nice together and the squirrel is nice.

Bombors, so what do you think of the sickle hooks since you got to see one up close.

Black and gold works anywhere and the middle one reminds me of bubblegum with the body. That head is one of my favorites for tailgunners/tailspins . Biggest hook that mold takes is a #4,wish it would take something bigger. Nice ties, guys.

The gold head nicely balances with the gold flash filaments. I wonder if theres a naturally occuring gold fur or feather?

Hey Bombora, what is that blob protecting the thread wrap?

Sorry guys a belly full of fine tucker and some Hunter Valley vino had me snoozing on the couch last night in front of computer. Woke up to find broadband credit run out! Bit rusty today.
Yep the scenery during the surf comp was rather nice. Though my bloke-ego copped some damage: damn girls surf hard and fast now, they were awesome, not like past years. They'd surf ring round this old carcas. And in a big upset it was an all American final!!!! Outrageous in surf obsessed Oz!!!!!
Really like the look of the sickle hooks.
Glossy smooth thread wrap is just nail polish and SH clear coat over the thread wraps. It does look like a blob of bubblegum! Or a baby rainbow which has eaten a trout egg! Or a baby rainbow with its egg sack still attached (it's coming into spawn run time here. Have heard the wild browns are already getting a bit aggro).
Pics don't do the black and gold ones justice: love the gold flash matching the gold head! Love the heads Jim; what a funky "face" design _ the eyes look like from Eqyptian pyramid art (though that may be the hangover speaking).
Keith I've always wondered if there's natural gold hair or feathers out there. Though in a recent CSI-type show on the box here they had feathers which had been treated with gold dust in a story about a high fashion murder and they looked fantastic. I remember the script even said it was cheap, but tachinically hard, to do.
Finally, finally might get up to the wild river this week to test them. Even more record rain stuffed last two planned trips. Hope I didn't just hex it. Fingers crossed.
