Caught my first Yellow Perch!

Was out fishing for Bluegills.  Managed to catch 7 keeper 'gills, a couple LMBs, hoards of small 'gills, and my first-ever Yellow Perch.  Caught the perch on one of LedHed's jigs I got in a swap.  Tied that on as the jig I've been using with great success got hung up on some wood, and the freaking eye pulled out of the jighead!  Tied on LedHed's jig and went back to jerking the fish out!

Perch are a great eating fish!! I like the size in your pic or a little bigger Sounds like you had a good time!

When I cleaned that Perch, i butterflied it, leaving the fillets attached at the stomach. This is how we get them where I work. Once I had the fish butterflied, the fillets were about the same size as the ones we get at work.

I went back today, intent on catching some minnows and fishing deeper for Crappies and Yellow Perch. Lots of minnows right on the ramp at the launch. Also had some small 'gills and tiny, minnow-sized, Yellow Perch mixed in with them.
