Those look great,Len. I've been doing mine with short tails so as not to interfere with the spinning blade but I need to tie some up like this without the tail which may not be neccessary. I did a tutorial awhile back on how I tie in the swivel on here for those who want to try these. They aren't hard to do and the crappie are swallowing them here.

Those look good to me - like the natural colors.

I did catch fish on my 'tail-less' tail gunners last year and have recently tied up a few (some big ones also!!!) that are thread neck bucktails where the buck ends right around the spinner. I would think walleye would find these appealing also. I'll pic and post them as soon as i get a chance.

I tried a few more out this morning and as for the hooking part it's definitely not a problem.Almost half the crappie,bass and white bass that I've caught are swallowing the bait even with a straight retrieve. The needlenose have been working overtime.

Late last season, the fish i did catch had no problems getting it well into their mouths and don't remember having any missed strikes with them either. The ones i did better with had colorado blades.... you can really slow them down with the extra blade at the rear and i think the fish have plenty of time to react and inhale.
