Tying up some more boring hair jigs for the conditions I'm going to face on Sunday if I get out. I posted these because out of all the patterns I don't recall doing the watermelon/black with olive thread and the fact that my buddy who I'm going with wanted a bunch when he saw it because watermelon and green pumpkin colors are what he really likes. These are both the same 1/8oz weedless round heads painted watermelon, it had silver flash tied in underneath the olive and dark olive bucktail body with short black bucktail tied over top to finish the jig off.

Watermellon/black may be boring, but it's a delectable treat for smallies

Boring isn't a bad thing. My fishing history leads me to believe boring (neutral) lures aren't retained as bad experiences to the smallies as often as say, a crank or spinner.

Get a 20"er on the line and I'm sure you'll forget "boring".

Thanks guys!! I call the boring because you don't know how many of the exact same style I tied in the last 2 months. They always worked but this time I took what I learned here about using flash along with layers to do multiple colors instead of putting one color on 1 side and a different color of the other side. This "new" style of an old classic really took off as the guys I fish with all liked it to the point I was tying all different kinds of color combos that I thought was never going to end. That is the other thing that I love about this place is I get a little more inspiration as I get to take a break and see all the neat jigs the other members are working on and it keep me thinking about the next jig in the vise!!
