Bear's Hex Nymph

Bear's Hex Nymph. 3xl curved-shank hook, size 12. Caught some nice gills the other night on one of these, decided to do some more, just in case.

And they were catching again last night! I caught several 'gills on the nymph, a small Crappie, and even a small Channel Cat!

Tasty looking, but you must have excellent eyes to be tying on a size 12 hook

Those were 3xl curved-shank size 12 hooks. Yeah, the bend is small, but the shank is almost an inch long.

I have to wear reading glasses whenever I need to tie and/or paint jigs/flies. I've noticed that it takes a little bit for my eyes to adjust after I take the reading glasses off and I'm putting my tools away. Pretty soon I'm going to have to get something with more magnification power.

I've tied flies down to size 26
