while doing a search for jig recipes. i found this one its called bimbo skunk bug. looks like it would be a easy tie. so has any one heard of this fly or jig oppps it helps to have a pic of it
It's like a wooly bugger (fly pattern tied on a jig) with a piece of chenille pulled over the top of it. It's a jig that's been around for a long time and has so many names you can't remember them all.
Does look similar to a w.bugger but not sure that is chenille making the 'skunk' stripe. If it is, has to be a very small or ultra size chenille..... i would guess some kind of yarn - i have some poly yarn that would work nicely for that. Betting it would work on multi species depending on how big it is tied. Alos interesting to see a no tail design, don't have to worry about the tail nippers, only one place to bite!
One of the local old time tiers here used to do a jig like that . He was a preacher and a angler . Started Kenny tackle in 1945 . In 1994 We met and he took a shine to me I purchased his supplies and he gave me the right to Kenny Tackle For old times sake I will still package a lure now and then on a Kenny tackle card . I learned a lot from him . R. I. P. Rev. Kenneth Smith . Thanks
I tie a similar jig using different colors of pearl braid as the stripe instead of the ultra chenille which it looks like to me as the belly stripe. Those will work.
