Elected to get a concealed carry permit. The arm I elected to go with was the Ruger LCR 357. Its a favorite of the CC people.

Its a great gun but its factory front sight is suited only for broad daylight shooting. Lots of users just paint front sight or use fingernail polish. Having tried those in the past I thought why not powder paint. Its durability ought to be way greater than FP and regular paint. Which both wear off rather easily.

Other options include Hiviz, XS and Novak sight replacement front only that range in price from 30 to 90 dollars. Eventually I am going to go with the Highviz. But for right now I removed front sight by tapping out drift pin. Painted and heat cured the paint. Then replaced on gun itself.

Anyway here are the inevitable before and after pix

This demonstrates how easily the front sight gets " lost " in trying for fast alignment.

This demonstrates the improvement. Only reason I am going to go to the Hiviz is the light gathering ability of its fiber optic core. By the way the LCR Ruger is everything its backers said it was. It is the smoothest double action ( factory ) I have ever used.
