I had a friend drop by and he really liked the idea of me trying out crappie styled jigs for bass fish so he asked if I could make him a couple and here they are. The top one he asked for bucktail and he picked the chenille so I called it the lucky J, his name is Joe so that is where the J came from. The bottom pic is a hairy J, he wanted the white jig head and marabou, I decided to go with straight black chenille and use some dun hackle.

I'm sure that they will catch fish, especially the secon one.I think that you should make more of a cone shape with your chenille like a couple more wraps from the center up to the head.Try one and post a pic,you will see the differance.

I'll give it a try Salty, I try to get a taper without making the body too bulky but I do like the heavy taper you make on your jigs. Junglejim1, the chenille on the top one is plain yellow chenille size medium I believe intertwined with a size medium tinsel chenille, and thank you, I liked it when I got done but it was my friend who asked about that instead of just adding flash like I originally wanted to do.

All it would take is another wrap of chenille.Just think of a minnow, when you have one in your hands how there is no gap from the head to the body. That is the way that I see it anyway, lol.
