Here are 3 jigs I did in my spare time. The top one is a 1/32oz minnow head painted purple with purple marabou for the tail, purple Seal-X dubbing for the body and finished off with a purple grizzly soft hackle collar. I love the look of the soft hackle collars in the water, reminds me of the gills on salamanders. The middle jig is another 1/32oz minnow head painted black, this was inspired by Fatman's grizzly hackle jigs. I tied in bucktail and silver flash for the tail and then black chenille for for the body, and then I palmered a black hackle feather around the chenille but I focused the most of it on the upper body not wanting a collar which would make it more of a wooly bugger. I like wooly buggers but I wanted something a little different but still insect looking. The bottom jig is one for river smallmouth specifically, it is a 3/32oz walleye head painted brown. I tied in brown bucktail and orange craft fur for the tail and used Cabelas large brown chenille for the body, and then finished it off with a large brown hackle collar. I wanted a big collar on this jig so it not only slows the fall but I wanted it to represent some type of legs or wings that the fish can see hoping it makes it more likely to catch a fish but who knows if it will work. I just got that Cabelas brand chenille and in the large size I really like it, the color is consistant and it is plush without being overly bulky, very nice stuff.

Nice looking hackle collars. If you want to try something different look into palmer chenille. It makes killer collars and bodies. I really like this stuff and I'll post a few baits that I tied using it tonight.
